Licensed Practical Nurse (Part Time)

Department: Inpatient Rehabilitation
Location: Lake Charles, LA

Licensed Practical Nurse

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION/RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provides technical nursing care for patients within an assigned unit of a hospital, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital.  The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for delegated nursing care for all patients assigned to him/her by the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a LPN in the State of Louisiana.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in nursing.
  • Advanced computer skills; Ability to compute medication dosages for age-specific populations as evidenced by approved score on NLN medication exam.
  • Licensed by the State of Louisiana in Practical Nursing; Maintain continuing education requirements; CPR certification.
  • Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
  • Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits strong communication and organizational skill.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting. 
  • The work environment may be physically confining. 
  • Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities. 
  • Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices if duties require listening with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, and bowel sounds. 
  • Ability to do shift work as required.
