Surgical Tech (Full Time)

Department: Surgery
Location: Lake Charles, LA

The Surgical Tech provides technical care for patients within assigned unit of hospital in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital, they are responsible for delegated care for all patients assigned to him/her by the RN.

Surgical technicians are part of an operating room team that also includes surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists. The day-to-day surgical tech job description includes duties such as:

  • Setting up the operating room prior to surgery
  • Stocking surgical supplies
  • Sterilizing instruments, gowns, surfaces and other supplies
  • Checking surgical machines and equipment
  • Preparing patients for surgery
  • Transporting patients to and from surgery
  • Passing instruments to surgeons during surgery

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • CPR Certified
  • Ability to do shift work as required
