Nurse Manager Behavioral Health (Full Time)

Department: Archer Adolescent Unit
Location: Lake Charles, LA

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of patient care. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Establish and maintain nursing policies and procedures.
  • Management of patient care.
  • Liaison with all LCMH departments.
  • Provide guidance regarding clinical aspects of patient care.
  • Responsible for Performance Improvement/ Continuous Quality Improvement Program of patient care.
  • Coordinate mandatory LCMH in-services for staff and residents.
  • Maintain inventory control.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance.
  • Set procedural protocol and standards for all procedures.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience within a health care organization required.
  • Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Louisiana or multi-state compact license required.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel.
  • Must be adaptable to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities; A spirit of cooperation, support and understanding for working with the program director, faculty, chief residents and center staff.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations.
  • May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
