MMG Behavioral Health Clinic Counselor

MMG Behavioral Health Clinic Counselor

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • The Counselor is responsible for providing psychosocial evaluations, individual psychotherapy and family counseling to clients across the age span. Counselor uses therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, solution focused therapy and/or person centered therapy to guide clients in exploring and understanding behavior, choices, challenges & problems to develop solutions, problem-solving skills, communication skills, coping skills and to create and move toward achievable goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Discuss treatment options, initiate and/or collaborate plan of care.
  • Responsible for client phone calls.
  • Provides client education.
  • Identifies community health resources and refers clients as necessary.
  • Handles other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an approved formal education program and licensed in the State of Louisiana as an LPC, LMFT OR LCSW.
  • 20 hours of continuing education annually in compliance with licensure board.
  • Ability to communicate with client, family, peers and support personnel.
  • Requires emotional stability and resilience. Must be adaptable to change, be decisive and demonstrate foresight.
  • Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations.
  • May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative clients.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with client, family, peers and support personnel.
