Home Health Director (Full Time)

Department: Home Health
Location: Lake Charles, LA

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • The Home Health Director provides leadership and has 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the successful operation of a designated unit/department/service. Participates as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operation of the unit/department/service. Is a steward of the hospital's mission and service excellence program.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures which support the Hospital's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that staff complies with mandatory education, licensure requirements, mandatory health requirements, etc.
  • Develops annual departmental budget and operates within budgetary guidelines.
  • Recommends and ensures appropriate staffing levels. Allocates resources according to priorities.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Develops alternative solutions.
  • Generates creative solutions and attention to detail.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Seeks increased responsibilities. Looks for and takes advantage of opportunities.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Healthcare Management/Business Administration required. Master’s preferred.
  • Active RN licensure
  • Minimum of 3 years RN experience with 1 of those years being Full time in providing direct patient care in a home health setting required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a healthcare organization
  • Adept in knowledge of home health regulations, billing process, and daily operations.
  • Participate in revenue growth and development and execution of strategic marketing/sales initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare Home Health Certification.
  • Leadership/Managerial skills demonstrating good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of home health care and the services provided to patients and family/caregivers through an interdisciplinary group.
  • Computer skills.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • The work environment may be physically confining.
  • Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities.
  • Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices if duties require listening with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, and bowel sounds.
  • Ability to do shift work as required.
