Information Systems- Clinical Application Analyst II

Location: Lake Charles, LA

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Clinical Application Analyst plays a crucial role bridging the gap between technology and healthcare, implementing efficient software, enhancing software, and training end-users to use software more effectively.

Analyze Healthcare Needs: Clinical analysts assess the needs of the healthcare facility and recommend appropriate information systems, working closely with customers to understand the requirements, and recommending workflows.

Ensure Data Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of clinical data in compliance with healthcare regulations. Regular audits and quality assurance checks are conducted to maintain data integrity.

Software Evaluation: Evaluate software vendors and test various software systems to select the most suitable one for the organization.

Implementation Support: Assist with the implementation of software, ensuring adoption within various inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize existing software applications.

Implement Clinical Data Systems: Implement and upgrade clinical data systems through using standardized project management methodologies.

Training and Documentation:

  • Conduct classroom and one-on-one training in identified applications.
  • Assist users in understanding technical aspects of the system, electronic workflows, and best practices.
  • Work closely with principal trainers to update training curriculum based on system enhancements, upgrades, and organizational needs.
  • Create tip sheets, job aids, and additional materials to support end-users.
  • Optimize documents on SharePoint for easy access and reference.
  • Successfully complete in-house training program to achieve Epic credentialed status.
  • Maintain credentialed status by:
    • Attending monthly meetings with the principal trainer to discuss curriculum changes, new features, functionality, and frequently asked questions from the classes.
    • Teach at least three times a quarter.

Collaboration: Work closely with key business stakeholders and vendors to identify/recommend solutions for complex issues.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years’ experience in healthcare, teaching, or information technology experience preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • An associate degree is required.
  • Effective communication skills using both verbal and electronic communication methodologies is required.
  • Competent in using Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and the willingness to learn additional software as needed.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel.
