CT Tech

Department: Radiology
Location: Lake Charles, LA

CT Technologist

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • Works closely with all Radiology personnel including the Cat Scan Supervisor, Administrative Director, Medical Director, and Radiologists to perform technical procedures in the Department of Radiology to include Cat Scan Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Ability to compute proper imaging techniques and contrast media administration.
  • Provides safe contrast media administration.
  • Evaluates orders for proper requisition entry/correlating to proper selection on CT scanner.
  • Obtains complete patient history and documents required information of requisition.
  • Performs routine scheduled exams in a timely fashion.
  • Performs Assessment
  • Plans Patient Care
  • Educates Patient/Family
  • Provides Age Specific Care For Patients Served
  • Practices Radiation Protection
  • Practices performance improvement.
  • Uses good judgment and concern for patients comfort and safety when transferring to exam table.
  • Basic knowledge of CT exams and routinely produces quality exams.
  • Communicates issues in regard to patient safety and patient work flow to peers and supervisor as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Registered Radiographer with the State of Louisiana, or registry eligible, with Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • Registered with the State of Louisiana, or registry eligible; ARRT registered.
  • Cat Scan certification preferred.
  • Licensed in Radiographer with the State of Louisiana.
  • CPR certified
  • Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
  • Must maintain required hours of inservice per year to meet requirements for CEU’s as stipulated by the Louisiana State Board of Radiology Technologists.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • The physical demands differ according to job responsibilities. Required to stay in a stationary positions as well as ability to move around. The ability to position ones self and/or move equipment is normally required.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk or radiation.
  • The employee occasionally is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Occasionally will need to be able to transport items 20 pounds or more.
  • Frequently you will be required to move 1-20 pounds. Frequently you will be required to push or pull 20 or more pounds.
  • You would continuously be using your hands and finger for positioning different equipment.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
