REGISTERED NURSE FIRST ASSIST (RNFA)

Department: Orthopaedic Specialists
Location: Lake Charles, LA

RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist)

RNFA must be an experienced perioperative nurse who has acquired additional education, knowledge and judgment along with advanced technical skills to function effectively as an assistant to the surgeon throughout a patientís surgical experience.

The RNFA must be able to do the following

  1. Function collaboratively with the surgeon and operating room team to perform safe operations with optimal patient outcomes.
  2. Have excellent communication skills to be able to follow the surgeonís instructions and also communicate clearly to other members of the surgical team.
  3. Must be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time.
  4. Care for patients before and after surgery.
  5. Think quickly and stay calm under pressure.
  6. Perform post operative assessments.
  7. Assisting in clinic by rooming patients, collecting patient's health information and entering in EMR, wound care and dressing changes, casting, relay information between patients and physician, scheduling surgeries, preop patients for surgery, and other office work as needed.

Qualifications

  •   Must have an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
  •   Current RN license and First Assist Certification
  •   Current CPR certification
