Network Administrator II

Information Systems Network Administrator II

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • The Network Administrator II assists in the design and development of its enterprise architecture. This position is a unique opportunity to apply skills and experience in networking to optimize patient care for a rapidly growing community hospital. The Network Administrator II is expected to be generally experienced with the entire OSI model, with an advanced level of understanding of layers 2 and 3, and be able to assist with wireless and voice networks. The position is focused on developing network infrastructure for the enterprise while demonstrating ownership, enthusiasm, and passion when assisting our physicians, nurses, and staff deliver an excellent patient experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for Core and remote Cisco networks
  • Maintain Voice and data lines provide by carriers
  • Manage Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Responsible for WAN optimization technologies
  • Maintain Cisco Prime and other wireless survey tools
  • Monitor Internal company VOIP system
  • Manage the Internal and external monitoring systems
  • Provide recommendations based on availability and capacity planning and long-term strategic planning
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of data and voice equipment to ensure compliance with established IT standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Monitor incident, change and problem SLA metrics
  • Maintain communication closet cleanliness and standards
  • Perform monthly checks and maintenance on UPS systems across multiple locations
  • Assist in access control, cable termination, cable installation, and audio issues
  • Ability to use multimeters, cable testers, and other associated tools
  • Cat6 cable installation, troubleshooting, and termination

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Computer Science/Technology or 5 years’ experience in managing networks with demonstrated experience in maintaining a Cisco based LAN, WAN, and Wireless network with high availability in a secure data center environment
  • Some Project Management experience
  • Experience with EIGRP and BGP required
  • Experience with wireless bridges and wireless antennas required
  • Experience in basic electrical theory such as voltage, grounding, and circuits required
  • Network+ required, CCNA preferred
  • Security, collaboration, and cloud certifications a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical groups
  • Professional with a customer service attitude

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Capable of performing light to medium duty physical tasks.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
  • The work environment may be physically confining.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
