Diagnostic Chief Tech

Department: Radiology
Location: Lake Charles, LA

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • Under the direction of the Administrative Director and the Medical Director of Radiology, is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of all diagnostic radiology section activities (including Fluoroscopy, General Diagnostic, Operating Room, Trauma Room and Portable procedures) at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Trains and directs technical staff and ensures that quality of services rendered is acceptable. Schedules technical staff appropriately to accommodate the needs of the patient and department. Performs or supervises quality control and performance improvement activities as directed by the Administrative Director. Coordinates all patient examinations with technical staff, radiologists, and attending physicians.

  • Supervises, manages and coordinates the daily activities for the delivery of patient care and various employee functions.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Registered Radiographer with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Louisiana State Radiologic Tehnologist (LSRT) license.
  • Minimum of three years appropriate technical skills in general diagnostic radiology.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • CPR certification.
  • Must maintain required hours of inservice per year to meet requirements for CEU’s as stipulated by the ARRT/LSRT.
  • Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers, and medical personnel.
  • Basic Math Skills.
  • Requires emotional stability and resilience.
  • Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight.
  • Exhibit organizational and leadership ability. Show ability to gain and maintain support and respect.
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed work with constant interruption; to understand and relate to specific ideas, generally several at a time, and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time.
  • Ability to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow; perform moderately difficult manipulative skills, and hand-eye coordination skills.
  • Ability to operate various types of radiolographic equipment and to utilize the hospital computer system in an efficient and proper manner.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires light duty lifting and ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
